ESI Super ranks in top 11%
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) recently
released its first measure of all super fund rates of return over
five years. APRA is the government body regulating the
superannuation industry released performance data for individual
superannuation funds, covering the 5 year period from financial
years 2004 to 2008.
The Superannuation fund-level rates of return reports both 3
year and 5 year performance information on the 200 largest funds by
asset size which cover 95% of members and 98% of the assets
of APRA-regulated funds and eligible rollover funds (ERFs).
The ABC's 7.30 Report on Wednesday 26th of August 2009 reported
on the rankings for the 5 year returns for the top 100 funds by
asset size from the APRA released information, not taking into
consideration the investment option.
ESI Super was ranked 11th in performance over the 5 year
period - well above many notable high profile superannuation funds.
This report has revealed that paying higher fees doesn't always
guarantee a greater return.
Of course we are proud of this result which reflects the hard
work over many years put in by the Trustee toward delivering
consistent strong long term performance for ESI Super
members. We are however, not 'content' with this past
performance, and recognise how difficult the current times have
been for our members and so we will continue to focus on delivering
better retirement benefits for you.
